StartupTree, a new digital platform to connect entrepreneurs across Wyoming, is located on the UW Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship website at www.uwyo-iie.org.

The University of Wyoming’s Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship (IIE) has launched an online platform to connect entrepreneurs across Wyoming and beyond.

StartupTree will support Wyoming’s “hybrid” virtual and face-to-face entrepreneurial ecosystem by enabling and promoting connection and shared learning across the state, says IIE Chief Operating Officer Jack Mason. The platform may be found at the IIE’s newly designed website at www.uwyo-iie.org.

“StartupTree is designed to be the place where Wyoming’s entrepreneurs connect with one another, share ideas and learn about events and other activities with a focus on entrepreneurship and economic diversification,” Mason says. “In a large, sparsely populated state like ours, a platform like this is the best way to create an entrepreneurial community for people to learn and share their expertise.”

Those wishing to join the StartupTree network can create accounts by providing their names and email addresses at www.uwyo-iie.org/join.

StartupTree has been integrated into the IIE’s website, which provides direction to entrepreneurs seeking help. It supports a wide range of activities: team formation, job and internship posting, competitions, discussions, events, entrepreneurial tutorials, the recently launched High Plains Mentor Network and more programs to come. It is available for use by individuals, ventures and communities across the state.

The website also includes information about the IIE and its support centers and programs, such as the Center for Business and Economic Analysis; the Center for Design Thinking; the Health and Biosciences Information Hub; a business law practicum to support entrepreneurs; the High Plains Mentor Network; and links to other resources.

The IIE was created by the UW Board of Trustees in 2018 to promote entrepreneurial thinking and activity by UW students, faculty and staff and across the state -- to serve as the university’s front door for the state’s entrepreneurs.

“Our ultimate objectives include creating and supporting startups; developing graduates and a workforce equipped with entrepreneurial mindset and strategies; and establishing an entrepreneurial ecosystem in Wyoming,” Mason says. “Much work remains to be done, but we are laying a strong foundation. The launch of StartupTree is an important step, and we encourage everyone with an interest in entrepreneurship to join and engage.”
